Feeling Very Honoured…

Back in August, a fellow photographer friend of mine, Catherine Berry, contacted me and asked if I was by any chance free on the Saturday of the August bank holiday…..and by a freak of nature…..I was!! She filled me in with the details and basically said that her other half Nathan and herself were finally going to tie the knot!  How amazing after being together for quite a number of years….and with only a week to plan this, I was overly excited to capture this for them.

To start off, Catherine said she was happy for me to just capture the wedding at the church.  I then mentioned that bridal prep is also a lovely part of the day to photograph, and I wanted to give them the best memories from the day.  We agreed that this was the way forward so we set a time for me to arrive.  This turned out to be a great decision, especially as there was so much to capture whilst everyone was getting ready!!

The Wedding Day

Move forward to the wedding day itself, I rocked up at Catherine’s mum’s address where I was met with such a warm welcome and everyone rushing around getting ready for the big day. I couldn’t wait to start capturing the bride and her family.  I eventually found Catherine buried under her cousins who were attempting to do her hair, but unfortunately were having a bit of a nightmare trying to create the style they were after for the bride.  No worries…Dollface to the rescue in this department, for you see, in my former life I was a hairstylist.  I still dabble a little and just happened to have some of my equipment in the car, so I put the camera down and stopped photographing for a nano second and proceeded to assist these damsels in distress.  Once we’d sorted the barnet out, the girls started to apply the bridal make up, which is one of my favourite things to capture.  I also made it a priority to capture the little details that can often get forgotten during the whirlwind that is your wedding day.

A FUNNY THING…

Once we arrived at the church, Catherine met up with the Vicar and Nathan.  In amongst the euphoria and excitement of getting their hitch on, Nathan was asked if he had the rings….only for us to hear, “um, no…I forget them”. They erupted with laughter saying not to worry, but I thought this girl needs a ring to get wed with, so I gave them a loaner! Without thinking, I whipped my eternity ring off my finger and gave it to the Vicar.

This couple were so excited to be finally getting married that they literally danced their way down the aisle.  It was the most awesome thing to be capturing as a wedding photographer.  Their love for each other, was without doubt the most pure and loveliest thing I have ever photographed.

The nuptials were read, rings blessed and placed on the finger, the ‘I do’s’ were said and now we have the new Mr & Mrs Turner – massive congratulations guys.

Letting The Creative Juices Flow

Because Catherine herself is very artistic and a fellow photographer, she was amazing and let me run wild with some creativity and have some fun with the portraits.  I promise I was working…..but, dang…..I was having the best time and really enjoy my job as a wedding photographer, and no more so than at times like these.
